Home Valley Station is open during the Kimberley dry season. This usually falls between May and October. 

Balanggarra Home Valley is approximately 120km west of Kununurra along the Gibb River Road. The drive takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions.

If you are headed East, El Questro is the closest place to refuel from Home Valley Station. This is 49km away. If you are travelling west along the Gibb River Road, the closest place to refuel is Mt. Barnett Roadhouse, 280km drive from Home Valley. 

There are a few car hire companies that operate out of Kununurra Airport. A 4WD is essential to drive on the Gibb River Road.

The Gibb River Road is approximately 660 km long, stretching from Derby to Kununurra through the heart of the Kimberley.

The best time to drive the Gibb River Road is during the dry season (May to October) when the roads are open, river levels are manageable, and the weather is ideal for exploring.

Balanggarra Home Valley is located along the Gibb River Road in the East Kimberley. Nearby attractions include:

  • Pentecost River – Iconic crossing with stunning views of the Cockburn Range.
  • El Questro – A nearby wilderness park with hot springs, gorges, and hiking trails.
  • Emma Gorge – A beautiful waterfall and swimming hole.
  • Zebedee Springs – Natural thermal pools surrounded by lush palms.
  • Kununurra – The closest town, about 120 km east, offering supplies and services.
